Faux Leather Skirt with a Hint of Color

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Albert Einstein

Hey guys,

I hope your week has been great so far! I came across the above quote a while back  and it really resonated with me. How many times do we judge other people's inabilities to perform a certain task well without realising that it falls outside their realm of talents and abilities?

I come from a big family, there's six of us - two girls and four boys (thank God it's only 2 girls and not the other way around). My younger siblings and I went to the same high school and one of them had the same Chemistry teacher that I had previously.I loved Chemistry, it was my favorite subject in school and I was really good at it. My brother on the other hand, hated it. While I would get a 100 on my Chemistry tests, he was happy with a 65.

My former teacher was very happy to have my brother in his class but he was highly disappointed that unlike me, my brother had zero interest in his class. On the other hand, he is a very creative person - he can make music,  write poetry, design and make clothes. I can't do any of that. It would be unfair to expect me to be as good as him in things that he's overly talented in and vice versa. Over the years, our parents have had to learn how to not compare their children because we all have different gifts and talents.

What's my point in all this? It's okay to be a little bit more understanding and kind to your friends, families, co-workers etc., that may not be as brilliant as you in certain aspects of life because you will need the same understanding and kindness from someone else.

As Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I wanted to do a few posts centering on gift  ideas for him/her and outfit ideas for your Valentine's Day date. My previous post was all about gift ideas that you can purchase for your loved one and you can read all about it here.

A lot of people mainly wear red for Valentine's Day but in this post, I wanted to shy away from red and pull off an all black look with a hint of color. I understand that this is a bold look for some people and that's where accessories come in handy as they slightly soften the look by adding a pop of color. In this case, it is the pink Michael Kors bag and the gold Bebe belt. I must admit, there's something edgy and sexy about a leather piece; this faux leather skirt paired with a deep v-neck blouse creates a perfect evening attire for a Valentine's Day date. The look is conservative and still a sassy.
