Hey guys,

This will probably be my last post before I head off to Greece on Friday. I'm panicking a little bit because I hate packing and I always wait until the last minute to do it, which is not good at all. I'm very excited to be going to Santorini though, it's been my dream vacation for so long and I can't wait to clock in my thirtieth birthday over there.

I cannot believe that in a few days, I will officially be an adult :-). A lot of people usually go into panic mode when they are about to hit a major milestone like turning 30, 40, 50, etc. I 'almost' had a moment of freaking out and asking myself, ‘what in the world have I done with my life so far?' I’m very excited about this new season and chapter of my life. I’m beyond blessed that God has kept me thus far.

Society has a way of making you feel like you should have certain things in place by the time you reach a certain age and if you don’t, then you must be a failure but that is so much further from the truth. I think life is about personal growth and constantly reinventing yourself. There are days when I feel like I have no clue what the next steps of my life should be. The best thing about each new day that is given to you is that you get a chance to start over and try out new things. If you have a plan to do something, just go ahead and do it and stop waiting for the perfect time. Sometimes there is no such thing as the perfect time. I’ve learnt some very valuable lessons in my twenties that have shaped me into the fabulous young lady that I am today and here are a few of them:

  1. Walk with God always – the greatest achievement in life is not fame, money or success but knowing the love of God. My dad always says that the most important thing to him is knowing that his children know and love God because when they have God then they have everything.
  2. Your family is your heart – cherish every moment you have with them
  3. Give generously to those in need – every time you give, you are lending to God and you can NEVER out-give God
  4. Forgive always
  5. Love deeply and unconditionally
  6. Some people are only meant to be in your life for a season, know when it’s time to let go of relationships /friendships
  7. Pray about everything
  8. Your friends are the family you get to choose - choose wisely.
  9. Spend some time alone with yourself, it’s good for you
  10. Be thankful - happiness is not found in things or people but comes from within and most of the times, it comes from having a grateful heart.

It’s amazing how our parents truly shape the person that we turn out to be. When I look back at most of my valuable lessons, I can honestly say that I learnt most of them from my parents and for that I’m so grateful. What lessons have you learnt from your parents, grandparents or other guardians?
