Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Him and Her

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 1 Corinthias 13:4-8

Hey guys,

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I know some of you are still wondering what you should get your significant other. There are a lot of guides out there on different things that you can buy for your loved one.  I wanted to share with you guys a few ideas of what I consider to be great Valentine's Day gifts. At the end of the day, you are the one that knows your loved one better than anyone else so it's really upto you to determine what you perceive to be the perfect gift for him or her based on his/her likes/dislikes.

I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day and it's mainly because it s so commercialised. People are immensely consumed with what they ought to get for the other person, that in the process it dimishes the importance of the day - and it is a very important day when people ought to celebrate their love and each other. Everyday shoud be a celebration of love, not just on Valentine's Day. The verse above is one of my favorite as it perfectly sums up the whole essence of love. How many strong relationships/marriages would we have if we were patient with each other, kept no record of wrongs, honored each other, set our pride aside, and were not self-seeking? These seem like such simple concepts to write on paper and yet they are so powerful. As you celebrate this day, I hope you will keep in mind these very important tools that will strengthen your relationship.

The whole idea of this post is to provide you with a few gift ideas that will hopefully make your loved one's day a lot better on Valentine's Day. Check them out below:

Personalized Gifts

Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a heartfelt personalized message engraved in an acrylic jewelry box, a keepsake, robe, etc. Check out personalizationmall.com for affordable gifts that you can get for your loved ones; they have a variety of different things that you can have engraved and they ship quite fast.

Perfume / Cologne

I’m yet to meet a person that does not love or appreciate fragrances. Personally, I always have them on my Christmas or birthday list. I have tried a lot of perfumes over the years and my top favorites are Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf, and Flower Bouquet by Miss Dior. Purchasing perfume or cologne for someone can be tricky as there are scents that some people are allergic to so you have to know if the other person is more inclined to wearing the following types of scents:

Floral – these scents are light and slightly sweet, they are  a blend of roses, lily, lavender, etc - try Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Flower Bouquet by Miss Dior, Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf.

Oriental – unlike floral scents, these are made from spices such as vanilla, cinannom, pepper, etc. You can get Dior Addict by Dior or  Yves Saint Laurent Opium.

Woody – a favorite among men, these are made from sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss, etc. They are usually musky; you can try Euphoria by Calvin Klein.

Fresh – these are citrus or green notes and they are made from lemon, orange and bergamot.  You can purchase DKNY Be Delicious Green Apple

Oceanic – These will remind you of the ocean when you see them; you can check out Cool Water by Davidoff.

Jewelry / Handbags

One can never go wrong with buying their loved one a piece of jewelry whether it’s a necklace, watch, bracelet, earrings, etc. If you can't decide on a piece of jewelry for her, a handbag is a perfect susbstitute.

Lingerie

Women love lingerie and sometimes it would be nice if the man could just pick out something that he would like to see his woman in. I think it's a sweet gesture! Victoria's Secret is always a great place to start.

Flowers

It’s a given that you’d buy flowers for your girl on Valentine’s Day but instead of giving her flowers the day of, you can ship them to her workplace or give them to her a few days earlier. While red roses are usually the most popular type of flowers for V-Day, it does not hurt to get a little creative and get her, her favorite flowers instead.

Stay Home

This is my favorite thing to do on Valentine’s Day. Staying home does not mean that you can’t enjoy a romantic evening. Instead of going out for dinner, plan a romantc evening at home by making a nice dinner, lighting some candles and watching a romantic movie.

Weekend Get-Away

Valentine’s Day is a great time to get away from everything and everyone. A mini getaway during this time is always ideal and you don't have to travel too far from home.  I personaly like heading out to the Poconos or Atlantic City for a few days if I'm looking for a quick getaway. If you are heading to Atlantic City and would like some quiet time, make sure you go during the week when it's less crowded.

Dining

If you absolutely must go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day, make sure you reserve a spot way ahead of time as most of the restaurants will be fully booked and be prepared to pay a hefty price for it. There are a lot of restaurant deals that you can purhase on Groupon or Living Social.

Reserve a Couples Massage

I have not tried this yet but it's definitely something I'd love to try in the near future. A couple's massage sounds very relaxing and romantic. There are plenty of Valentine's Day special package deals that you can currently purchase on groupon.

Thank you all for stopping by! I hope you found this post super helpful. Go ahead and enjoy shopping for your special someone.
