Island Hopping in a Floral Skort Remix
“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert
Every time I get on a plane, I always get a window seat for two reasons: firstly, I use the window as a cushion for me to lean against while I sleep and secondly, I love to gaze out the window and marvel at the endless stretch of scattered clouds that look like soft, fluffy white cotton candy. Being on a plane just makes me realize how small I am compared to the universe as a whole; it's quite amazing!
We traveled to the U.S Virgin Islands with the girls over the long Memorial Weekend to celebrate our birthdays and it was so beautiful, with pristine white beaches that made me swore never to go to a New York beach ever again. The entire four days that we were in USVI were spent beach hopping from one island or town to the next.
I wore this outfit on a day trip to Water Island (a smaller island within St Thomas). If you guys remember, I wore this floral River Island skort in a previous post last autumn. I paired it with a burnt orange blouse with an embellished neckline and I couldn't wait to wear it again this spring, this time with a bright yellow sleeveless blouse and a pair of sandals.
Wearing light clothing is a must when visiting an island like St Thomas as temperatures can get quite high during the day (at least 85 Degrees Fahrenheit); it gets hot and humid. I wanted to keep my outfit very light so this lightweight skort paired with a soft polyester blouse, sunglasses and a hut were ideal for this kind of weather.
