The 8 Truths About God Revealed in “So Will I” by Hillsong United
It was a quite evening at the hospital. I stared out the giant windows and I could see the empty streets glazed with snow. I looked up at the sky and saw that it was painted with different shades of pink and orange. The contrast between the sky and the white glazed streets was so beautiful. The silence outside echoed the one in my room. I asked God what was the meaning of all this? Deep down I already knew that everything that I was going through was not in vain. God does not let you go through any hardships in vain.
P.S. If you click on any of the images, it will direct you to the Travel Diary where it was taken from.
I opened my laptop and came across this song. As I listened to each word, each verse…the powerful truths of who God is overwhelmed my heart. I couldn’t stop listening to this song - I played it over and over again while the girls were still in the womb. I played it for them every single time I was holding in the NICU. They’ve heard it so much that they know the words to the song. It’s so amazing watching them lift up their tiny hands in worship singing ‘God of creation…”. When you focus on who God is, the problems that you are facing are nothing compared to his greatness. When you look at all of creation and what he has done, your problems are like a speck of dust that can easily be wiped off.
If you scroll down to the bottom of my site, you can play this song from there or you can watch it here.
This was not the topic I planned to write about today. I guess God had other plans and someone needed to this today. Here are a few of God’s truths revealed in “So Will I”:
The Creator
VERSE 1
God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light
Genesis 1 - 3 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.”
God of Grace
CHORUS 1
And as You speak
A hundred billion galaxies are born
In the vapour of Your breath the planets form
If the stars were made to worship so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You’ve made
Every burning star
A signal fire of grace
If creation sings Your praises so will I
Genesis 1: 16-17 - “16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.”
Psalm 66: 4-5 - “4All the earth bows down to You; they sing praise to You; they sing praise to Your name.” 5Come and see the works of God; how awesome are His deeds toward mankind.…”
His Word Does Not Return Void
VERSE 2
God of Your promise
You don’t speak in vain
No syllable empty or void
For once You have spoken
All nature and science
Follow the sound of Your voice
Isaiah 55:10-11 - “10For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bud and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, 11so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it.”
The Greatest Artist and Giver of Life
CHORUS 2
And as You speak
A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath
Evolving in pursuit of what You said
If it all reveals Your nature so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You say
Every painted sky
A canvas of Your grace
If creation still obeys You so will I
Genesis 1v21 - “…So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
Hebrews 4:12 - “12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
All Creation Worships Him
BRIDGE
If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we’ll sing again a hundred billion times
Psalm 19:1-4 - “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. 2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech; they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice b goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Luke 19: 37-40 - “37When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.””
The God that Pursues Us
VERSE 3
God of salvation
You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride
On a hill You created
The light of the world
Abandoned in darkness to die
Revelations 3: 20 - “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
John 15:13 - “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
The One Who Laid Down His Life
CHORUS 3
And as You speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You’ve done
Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender so will I
I can see Your heart
Eight billion different ways
Every precious one
A child You died to save
If You gave Your life to love them so will I
John 15:33 - "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Revelations 1:18 - 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
The God that Leaves the Ninety-Nine for the One that is Lost
TAG
Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire
You’re the One who never leaves the one behind
Luke 15: 3-7 - “3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
God is faithful even when you are not. On the days that you may feel like he has left you or forgotten about you, just remember his promises that he will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) .There’s absolutely nothing that will ever separate you from his love, “…neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Hebrews 8:38-39).
