The Battle of The Pools
In today’s post, we are on a quest for the best swimming pool to indulge in while on vacation. We are looking at 7 pools from across the world - pools overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Andaman Sea to pools overlooking the city skylines and those nestled in the middle of the jungle. Here we go:
Padma Ubud Resort (Bali, Indonesia)
The infinity pool at Padma overlooks the jungle and the valley. It is the true definition of exotic, providing stunning views at any time of the day. Enjoy the sunset or the moon in this romantic setting. The pool is heated throughout the day, which is an added bonus. It has a beautiful garden right in the middle of the pool. It’s concave so it looks like it’s wrapped halfway around the resort. It also has a sunken pool bar where guests can enjoy tropical fruit smoothies or signature cocktails while lounging on one of the sun loungers or parasols.
Hanging Gardens of Bali (Bali, Indonesia)
The pool at The Hanging Gardens of Bali is one the most photographed pools in the world. It is named ‘The World’s Best Swimming Pool” Condé Nast Traveler. It is suspended over the rainforest and gives swimmers the illusion that they are swimming over the treetops. While this pool photographs well, it is not exactly ideal for swimming. The bottom pool has a giant rock in the middle that serves a stepping-stone as you can see in the pic below. The pool is not heated.
Park Royal on Pickering (Singapore)
Let me start of by saying that the unique design and architecture of Park Royal is out of this world. The hotel is designed in such a way that is draped in lush vegetation all around. It is simply stunning. The infinity pool is located on the fifth floor, overlooking Singapore’s city-line. What sets this pool apart from the rest is the vibrant birdcage-inspired cabanas that are set along the perimeters of the pool. They provide the ultimate lounging experience with semi privacy.
One of the most notable features of Rayavadee is the infinity swimming pool overlooking Railay Beach and the massive cliffs. The pool is designed in such a way that it is sectioned off in four different ways, so you have the shallow end, a hot tub, and the deep end. From one end, it almost appears as if the pool is part of the ocean. It provides the perfect view of the sun rising or setting over the ocean. I have to admit, I was sold on Rayavadee when I saw this pool – it just appears to be out of this world.
The oceanfront infinity pool at Hyatt is definitely one of their top selling points. You can take part in water sports like volleyball and aqua gym class. If you are tired of the pool, you can jump in one of the whirlpool tubs. It definitely makes a very relaxing environment. My favorite part about infinity pools that overlook the ocean is being able to see the sunrise or the sunset. One of the most notable features about this pool is that it runs really long, longer than all the other pools discussed in this post. It’s just magical and romantic.
Katharos Villas (Santorini, Greece)
The swimming pools at Katharos Villas are quite different from all the ones discussed so far. Each villa comes with a small pool and collectively, they create the most beautiful views at night while emanating a soft blue light.
Petit Palace ( (Santorini, Greece)
Santorini is known for having the best sunset views in the world, so it’s no surprise that the swimming pool at La Petit Palace makes this list. Its prime location overlooking the caldera gives it a front row seat to the Mediterranean Sea and the most breath-taking views of the sunset. We took some of the best shots of the sun right here.
That’s it folks! If you had to pick one pool out of the 7, which one is your favorite?
